Always looking to widen my artistic horizons I recently trained to become a Powertex Certified Tutor. Some of you may be wondering what does that mean exactly and what on earth is Powertex? Well I don’t see the point in trying to re-invent the wheel when the following (taken from the Powertex UK site) gives a better explanation than I could.
“Powertex is the environmentally friendly, water-based textile hardener which can harden absorbent materials such as textiles, fabric, cloth, paper, cardboard, fabrics, leather and fiberglass. Powertex can be easily combined with self-hardening clays, concrete, stone, ceramic, wood, sand and Stone Art. Powertex is used for making sculptures, paintings, decorative objects and jewellery.”
So that’s the product, and having trained with them it means I can now deliver workshops in these products. There are different levels to be gained so for now I will only be offering fabric sculpting, but I already love the different figures and statues you can create and I hope you will too. You will be amazed at the huge variety of textures that can be obtained and if you let your imagination fly I can teach you how to produce some incredible pieces!
I’m very excited about providing these workshops but until our lives return to a level of whatever our ‘normal’ becomes, I will keep you up to date with what will be coming up (and any experiments I try) here online and through my Newsletter so, if you haven’t already, do sign up so that you’re one of the first to hear any news.
